RX 7900 XT VS RTX 4080: this youtuber has performed a benchmark on 9 games, what should we think?

News JVTech RX 7900 XT VS RTX 4080: this youtuber has performed a benchmark on 9 games, what should we think?

While all gamers are finally waiting for the release of AMD’s RX 7900 XT and 7900 XTX graphics cards, an unknown youtuber manages to sow doubt by offering a comparative GPU benchmark with the latest from Nvidia.

Can we already compare the RX 7900 XT and the RTX 4080 from Nvidia?

The RX 7900 is the future jewel of technology made in AMD. This graphics card comes in two versions, the RX 7900 XT, and 7900 XTX. Yes, once again, AMD applies even more complicated nomenclatures for its products, but what do you want, that’s the tech…

AMD’s XT versions are GPUs boosted and capable of being overclocked, to perform even better. So imagine that an XTX version made more than one player ask questions. While the RTX 4090, literally the most powerful graphics card in the world, and the RTX 4080 have already been released, our eyes are already on the future: the AMD RX 7000 line.

It was then that out of nowhere, an English-speaking youtuber already offered complete tests on the RX 7900 XT and XTX, even though AMD had still not started distributing them to professionals.

For more than two weeks, the videographer DracarysGaming offers comparisons between graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia. In all, the youtuber has published no less than 10 videos on the RX 7900, with different games tested. Obviously, we never see him in facecam, with the graphics card at his side. But then, should we really believe these tests?

For once, everything seems in order at first glance, the framerate sticks quite well with what we imagine from the RX 7000, and if we rely on the power differences present during the previous generation, everything seems logical.

However, two elements tell us about this fake potential. First, what I didn’t tell you is that Dracarys Gaming only has 1400 subscribers right now. AMD would therefore have no interest in providing it with its chips to highlight them in a comparison. We are therefore a long way from LinusTechTips, which currently has 15 million subscribers, and which therefore explains why brands want to work with it.

The second important point is that Dracarys Gaming published 10 videos in 2 weeks, sometimes with the same gameplay sequences in its tests. It therefore seems to want to play with the YouTube algorithm to be highlighted by users who often watch gaming and tech content.

And tell yourself that even youtubers with millions of subscribers have not published comparative videos between the RTX 4000 and RX 7000. Even if the latter may have received them, it would still be necessary to respect the embargo of AMD for posting these videos.

So don’t trust these benchmarks, and other videographers surely do too. The goal is to be the first on the spot in order to attract as many spectators as possible. The tests should arrive shortly before the release of the RX 7900 XT and XTX graphics cards.

At the same time, we contacted AMD directly. Of course, we had to understand why a videographer with 1400 subscribers would have received it and not us… The AMD representative was very frank with us and claimed that these were fake videos, simply because the GPUs were not distributed.

What we know about the RX 7900 XTX and XTX

AMD’s goal is obviously to beat its longtime competitor: Nvidia. The RX 7900 XT provides 20 GB GDDR6 of dedicated video memory with a boost frequency of 2.4 GHz. There will also be 5376 CUDA cores, dedicated to the calculations of simultaneous operations.

For the RX 7900 XTX, we dope a little the classic XT to end up with 24 GB GDDR6 of dedicated video memory and a frequency of 2.5 GHz. This time, we will be entitled to 6144 CUDA cores.

The goal is obviously to hamper Nvidia with its RTX 4090, with a nice business technique. And yes, the RTX 4090 is extremely expensive… That’s why AMD is planning the RX 7900 XTX at “just” $999 and the XT at $899, much cheaper than the RTX 4000s for performance that shouldn’t be that great.

In the meantime, the RX 7900 XT and 7900 XT arrive on December 13, and you’ll soon have news on your favorite site.
