Argentine tennis player Sebastián Báez was eliminated from the Montreal Masters 1000 after losing today in his debut against Australian Nick Kyrgios 6-4, 6-4.
Báez, ranked 32nd in the ATP world ranking, was surpassed by Kyrgios (37th), a finalist this year at Wimbledon and champion this weekend at the ATP 500 in Washington, after one hour and 25 minutes of play.
The only previous precedent between the two favored Kyrgios, who had won this year in the opening round of the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells, in the United States, so the player from the Ocean extended his record against the Argentine to two games apart.
Kyrgios will play in the next round against the number one in the world, the Russian Daniil Medvedev (1), champion this weekend at the ATP 250 in Los Cabos.
On the other hand, tonight the Argentine Diego Schwartzman, located in the 15th place of the ecumenical tennis ranking, faces the Spanish Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (36th), a rival he beat the three times they met.
In the case of winning, the “Peque” will meet in the second round with the Belgian David Goffin (61st) or the Spanish Albert Ramos (43rd).
