Sherlock Holmes The Awakened launches its Kickstarter and aims for a 2023 release

Completely remade with the Unreal Engine 4, Sherlock Holmes The Awakened will take the story of the original game in broad outline, but with the necessary changes to make it a successor to Sherlock Holmes Chapter One. Understand by this that we will play here a young detective barely more experienced and who has only just met his future inseparable partner, Doctor John Watson.

We find both of them in this trailer taking place in the swamps of New Orleans, while the sheriff’s men do not hesitate to open fire on the protagonists, who will also have to beware of the fanatical sect worshiping a certain Great Old One who slumbers in the area. New Orleans will be one of four major semi-open world destinations in this adventure consisting of 8 main cases. In contrast to the studio’s latest games (Sherlock Holmes Chapter One and The Sinking City), the choice of a semi-open world was carefully considered and conditioned by circumstances.

Announced for mid-2023 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch and PC, this remake is therefore already well advanced and clearly does not depend on the 70,000 euros that Frogwares is asking for on Kickstarter. The solidarity effect towards Ukraine being always present in people’s minds, this amount should logically be very much exceeded, even though the rewards will all be in digital format for easy to understand reasons.

We opted for Kickstater to create a financial safety net for the game but also to try to return the favor to our closest fans who want to support us now. That way we can give them some recognition by putting their names and photos in the game while it’s in development. All downloadable rewards on Kickstarter will be available for purchase for all players in the future, but campaign backers will get this content first and for less, including the game itself“, explains the press release.

In addition to the game’s trailer, Frogwares also shares another video providing an update on its situation and more broadly that of Ukraine, more than five months after the start of hostilities launched by Vladimir Putin’s forces. Even within the 90 members of the Frogwares team, some have left the country while others have volunteered to take up arms and defend it, but all have kept in touch.
