Shirley Clamps’ unknown illness: “People have mocked me”

Shirley Clamp has struggled with depression and weight problems for a long time, it turned out to be a hidden disease.

Shirley Clamp is one of many Swedish artists who now that society has reopened can start with shows and gigs, almost as before!

Now she is up to date with her own show, “Almost 20 years on stage if you round up” at Maxim in Stockholm. She talks about the show in an interview with Amelia. It is a self-disclosing story that evokes a lot of emotions.

– I offer a lot about myself, about my depressions and separations, about my shitty self-esteem, about how people have mocked me for my weight. But in a slightly twisted way, Shirley tells the newspaper.

Shirley Clamps unknown disease

For many years, Shirley suffered from the silent disease hypothyroidism, which is a thyroid disease that often appears in her 40s and the symptoms include fatigue, depression and aches and pains. The doctors did not find the problem immediately.

– I was tired, and even though I made an effort with diet and exercise, I did not lose the extra weight. What’s going on? I thought, she says to Amelia.

After a while, she sought care, a specialist and finally got the right help, which has given her life and joy back.

Shirley Clamp found love

Just like for others in the entertainment industry, 2020 was a tough year for hit star Shirley Clamp. But instead of investing in her career, she gave her private life a chance, and found love in the hockey profile Benny Rönnelöw.

In TV4’s Nyhetsmorgon, she has told more about the happiness of love, and why the timing right now was so right.

– I’m bad at taking time for things that are great for me. First, I have dared to let in and show, dared to show everything I feel and let in all the love. It may sound cliché, but it is.
