Six years later, do you miss the jack port on your smartphone?

The jack port is becoming more and more rare these days. Premium, high-end or even mid-range phones are almost all starting to abandon it, as evidenced by the future Pixel 6a sold for 459 euros. So we naturally wondered if you tend to miss this connectivity… or not?

In 2016, a new trend took shape and then strengthened over the years: the removal of the jack plug on our smartphones, then on the way to extinction. Apple, then Huawei, OnePlus, Samsung, to name but a few, have all taken the leap. But not on just any phone. It was indeed the premium and high-end devices that first paid the price.

A gradual trend

Today, finding a jack port on a smartphone sold for more than 800 euros is almost impossible. Gradually, the headphone jack was also removed from more affordable smartphones, belonging to the mid-range category. The Google Pixel 6a, expected in France this summer for the sum of 459 euros, is a perfect example.

This connection is nonetheless essential for users who do not have wireless headphones or earphones. In this case, wired devices remain the only solution for listening to music, making a call or playing discreetly. Moreover, using wired headphones makes it possible to guard against any auditory latency during a game, guaranteeing a clean sound experience.

The entry level resists

The phones in the entry-level segment are the only ones to resist by integrating this connection. After all, someone willing to spend $200 on a phone might not want to put $150 on a pair of wireless headphones. In the idea, it therefore makes sense to keep it on this type of smartphone.
