Slight rebound in sales for Father’s Day: what were the most sought-after products?

Sales related to the celebration of Father’s Day grew 1.4% this year compared to 2021 in the measurement at constant prices, with the clothing and cell phone items as the most sought afterreported this Sunday the Argentine Confederation of Medium-sized Enterprises (CAME).

“Smaller products were sold than last year and in many families the gift was the trip for the long weekend”pointed out CAME, which calculated an average spending ticket of $6,880.

The improvement in sales was based on the promotions launched by the businesses. Although the growth rate was modest compared to other years, 66% of SME businesses surveyed by CAME considered that their sales were “the same as or better than expected.”

61.3% of businesses targeting this date made some discount, gift or offered payment facilities, seeking to prevent price increases from discouraging demand.

In the annual comparison, the item that increased the most was Clothing (+7%), followed by Peripheral equipment, accessories and cell phones (+6%), Cosmetics and Perfumeries (+4%) and Appliances, household items and audio equipment and video (+1%). On the contrary, this time sales in Bookstores fell by 7% and in Footwear and leather goods by 6%.
