René Kremser has been part of the Vorarlberg Personal Assistance team since September.
Dornbirn. René Kremser, chairman of the “füranand” association since July 2016, is now in charge of networking and peer counseling in the Dornbirn service center of Vorarlberg’s personal assistance. “I am a social worker by profession and since I am blind and use a wheelchair to move around, I am also an expert in my own right,” he explains with a smile.
He is also responsible for the “Helping Hands” project. The project makes it easier for people with disabilities to access cultural institutions and events in Vorarlberg.
Before working at the PAV service center, Kremser worked for the Institute for Social Services in Vorarlberg for 13 years. He brings the experience he gained there in organizing educational opportunities for people with disabilities and in looking after the information pool to his new job.
In addition to his professional activity, René Kremser is involved, as mentioned as chairman of the association “füranand” and since March 2018 as a member of the Vorarlberg monitoring committee. In this role he contributed to the development of the “Inclusive Vorarlberg Region” model.
“As an employee of the service point and as a person with disabilities, I would like to help ensure that all people in Vorarlberg who need personal assistance achieve their right to a self-determined life with personal assistance, as is legitimate under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities,” he concludes.
Next peer group event
There will also be a “peer group appointment” in October. On October 21st, the theme will be “The truth is concrete”. In the peer group, people with disabilities have the opportunity to exchange experiences, problems and experiences in everyday life with personal assistance. People with disabilities who (want to) live with personal assistance or who want to get to know the personal assistance system are invited. Please register at the service point. (cth)
