SpaceX just completed 3 rocket launches in 36 hours. This feat ended with the liftoff of a Falcon 9 rocket on Sunday morning which sent a telecommunications satellite into orbit.
Last weekend was particularly busy for SpaceX. Elon Musk’s aerospace company had to organize three rocket launches in just 36 hours. This is the first time that three trade missions have been carried out by a single company so quickly. This feat ended on Sunday morning with takeoff of a Falcon 9 rocket. She took off from Cape Canaveral in Florida to send a satellite from Globalstar, a communications company based in Louisiana, into orbit.
Ten minutes after liftoff, the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket returned to Earth. He succeeded a vertical landing on the “Just Read The Instructions” recovery barge of SpaceX located off the coast of Florida in the Atlantic Ocean. The satellite was therefore deployed in orbit as planned, unlike the two NASA satellites which were destroyed following the failed takeoff of an Astra rocket.
Three SpaceX rockets took off in California and Florida to send satellites into orbit
SpaceX’s other two launches were made on Friday and Saturday. Friday, SpaceX has launched 53 Starlink satellites from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. On Saturday, the company took off a radar satellite for the German army from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Thus, not only did three rockets take off in 36 hours, but they also took off from one side and the other of North America. Find below the video of the landing of the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket on the recovery barge yesterday.
Moreover, the launches took place only a few days after the internal wave of criticism aimed at Elon Musk. Indeed, SpaceX employees have prepared an open letter explaining how Elon Musk’s behavior is a ” source of embarrassment “. In particular, they criticize his controversial tweets and demand that SpaceX separates from Elon Musk’s personal brand.
Following the criticism, SpaceX fired many employees involved in this letter. They were fired last Thursday. The company also explained that this famous letter put other employees ” uncomfortable ” and ” angry “. In any case, this internal crisis did not prevent SpaceX from achieve the feat of launching 3 rockets in 36 hours this week-end.
