It’s been about a week and a half since The Game Awards 2022 nominees were announced and without a doubt the biggest surprise was Stray’s nomination in the Game of the Year category. It’s clear there are plenty of Stray fans among the critics, as BlueTwelve Studios’ game already won its first Game of the Year award at the Golden Joystick Awards.
This Tuesday the Golden Joystick Awards 2022 awards ceremony was held, where the most important games of the year were recognized based on millions of votes from both critics and players. One of the categories was Best Game of the Year on PlayStation consoles and the winner was Stray, the popular kitty game.
The winner of the Ultimate Game of the Year category, which is responsible for recognizing the best game of the year regardless of its platform, was FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, one of the biggest candidates for the GOTY award at The Game Awards along with God of War : Ragnarok.
The winner for PC Game of the Year was Return to Monkey Island, while Xbox Game of the Year was Grounded and Nintendo Game of the Year was Pokémon Legends: Arceus. It should be noted that God of War: Ragnarok did not manage to be among the nominees for its release date, so a tighter competition awaits us for The Game Awards.
At the moment, we only have to wait a couple of weeks for The Game Awards, where God of War: Ragnarok boasts 10 nominations and it is expected that we will see news of games on the way, such as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Final Fantasy XVI.
Also: God of War: Ragnarok has already won its first Game of the Year 2022 award.
