Washington DC, United States.- The United States could suffer a terrorist threat from Mexico due to the presence of armed groups, the insecurity situation and the lack of law in the country, considered Mike Pompeo, former Secretary of State under the Government of Donald Trump.

“My assessment is that Mexico as a safe haven and launching point for terrorist operations within the United States is a serious possibility within the next 10 years,” Pompeo wrote in his new memoir Never Give an Inch.

Who was also director of the CIA points out that there are significant parts of Mexico -close to the United States- that are no longer monitored by the central government.

“Every American should know that today, the United States faces significant ungovernable spaces near places like El Paso, Phoenix, and San Diego,” Pompeo wrote.

“There are entire forces of well-armed militias – the private armies of the Mexican criminal syndicates – that impose their gang rule without government interference.”

In the book, Pompeo recalled that Trump even raised the possibility of launching missiles into Mexico to “destroy drug laboratories” and end the cartels.

“The leftists on CNN and MSNBC babbled about how this would violate Mexican sovereignty, which seemed to matter more to them than ours,” he criticized.
