Colo Colo had a day to be forgotten at the Monumental Stadium when they lost 1-0 to Cobresal on this date 19 of the 2021 National Championship, a result with which he mortgaged his leadership in the standings.
The defeat of the Cacique was not only a serious blow to the aspirations of Gustavo Quinteros’ team to maintain the leadership, but also it resulted in the end of a good streak of undefeated matches between the tournament and the Chile Cup.
The albos came to 15 games without defeats, his last fall before today against Cobresal on May 8 of this year, the day he lost 2 to 1 against Palestino at the Monumental Stadium.
From then on the Cacique accumulated eleven wins and four draws, which translates into a remarkable 82% performance that allowed him to climb to the top of the tournament and set foot in the final of the Chile Cup.
Unfortunately, the goal by Marcos Sebastián Pol and the penalty missed by Iván Morales put an end to that streak, leaving it equal to that achieved by Jaime Pizarro in the 2003 season.
Cacique’s revenge after this hard fall is just around the corner, since this Wednesday he will play against Unión Española for the return of the semifinals of the Chile Cup, a match that he will play with the first option to advance to the final after thrashing 4-0 in the first leg played at the Monumental.
