Directed by three-time Oscar winner Peter Jackson, The Beatles: Get Back takes viewers on a journey back in time to the band’s recording sessions in January 1969, which became a key moment in music history.

The documentary series shows the Beatles’ creative process as they wrote 14 new songs in preparation for their first live concert in over two years. The close friendship between John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr was put to the test because the deadline was almost impossible to meet.

Jackson is the only person who has had access to this Beatles treasure in the past 50 years, which has now been brilliantly restored. The result is an incredibly intimate portrait of the Beatles, showing how, with their backs to the wall, they could still rely on their friendship, good sense of humor, and creative ingenuity.

As plans derail and relationships put to the test, some of the world’s most iconic songs are composed and played live. The documentary series shows – for the first time in full length – the last live performance of the Beatles as a group, the unforgettable rooftop concert on London’s Savile Row, as well as other songs and classical compositions from the band’s last two albums, Abbey Road and Let It Be can be heard.

The book “The Beatles: Get Back” was published on October 12th by Apple Corps Ltd./Callaway Arts & Entertainment. The 240-page hardcover book is designed and produced to a high quality and complements the documentation “The Beatles: Get Back” with transcriptions of the Beatles’ conversations and hundreds of exclusive, never before published photos from the three-week sessions. The German edition of the book was published on October 15th by the Droemer Knaur publishing group.

In addition, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the number 1 album Let It Be, the last album as Fab Four, which was supposed to bring back the sound of its beginnings as a live band, a number of high-quality special editions were released. Let It Be presents itself here with new mixes in stereo, 5.1 surround and Dolby Atmos – expanded with previously unreleased session recordings, rehearsal and studio jams as well as the previously unreleased Get Back LP mix by Glyn Johns from 1969. Each of the new versions of Let It Be contains the album’s new stereo mix.
