The Cacique’s Calendar continues to take shape in 2021

Colo Colo faces the 2021 season after one of the most traumatic campaigns in our history, where we flirted dangerously with relegation and were saved in a defining match against the University of Concepción.

After several years playing international cups, those led by Gustavo Quinteros now only have to focus their energies on local tournaments, where until December will play the 2020 Super Cup against Catholic University, the Chile Cup 2020, the National Championship 2021 and the Chile Cup 2021 (tournament that should be played in the second half of the year).

Thinking about the return to official duels is that The Cacique had his first pre-season friendly at the Public Prosecutor of Talca, defeating Rangers 3-0 thanks to goals from Iván Morales (16 ‘), Javier Parraguez (55’) and Leonardo Valencia (92 ‘).

In addition, four days later he faced Curicó Unido in the Santa Cristina Complex in the Maule Region. The Chieftain played two half-hour matches each time against the torteros, drawing 1-1 in the first with a goal from Iván Morales (39 ‘) and winning 4-0 in the second with goals from Leonardo Valencia (23 ‘), Javier Parraguez (43’), Luciano Arriagada (55) ‘and Carlo Villanueva (63’),

The official participation of Colo Colo in this season 2021 He did not start in the best way, since he asked 4-2 against Universidad Católica at the National Stadium for the pending 2020 Super Cup.

In the 2021 National Championship, the albos debuted on date 1 with a goalless draw against Unión La Calera at the Monumental Stadium. Colo Colo’s second match for the tournament ended in a 2-1 victory over Cobresal in the north.

Unfortunately, the Cacique’s first defeat in the tournament would soon fall, since against O’Higgins he was beaten 2-1 at the Monumental Stadium on date 3 of the contest, staying on the four points and losing a good opportunity to climb to the first places.

Colo Colo quickly rose from this loss to the Celestes, as a week later they beat Everton 2-0 in visiting condition at Sausalito and got quite close to the tournament leaders.

This winning stride of the Cacique was violently interrupted by a kind of “outbreak” of coronavirus inside the campus. An infected and 17 close contact were the final balance for the duel against Ñublense, being the youth of the team who had to come out to face to fall hard 5-1 in the Nelson Oyarzún Bicentennial.

Unfortunately the revenge of the tough defeat in Chillán could not be given to Palestino the following week, as the Cacique fell 2-1 at home and squandered another good opportunity to reach the top of the tournament.

The good news is that this mini slump was in the past, as the Albos defeated Huachipato 2-0 at the CAP stadium in Talcahuano, thus reaching the top of the standings after eight disputed dates.

On his return to the tournament after his free date and before the break, the Cacique had to work hard to beat Deportes La Serena 2-0 at the Monumental Stadium, keeping valuable points in his pocket to climb the table.

The debut of Colo Colo in Copa Chile of the most auspicious possible, since progressed smoothly by beating the papayeros 7-1 on aggregate. The first leg was 3-1 for the Cacique with goals from Iván Morales, Gabriel Costa and Pablo Solari, while the return was a 4-0 through Gabi Costa, an own goal and a double from Iván.

Fortunately, football brings revenge and the Cacique knew how to clean his wounds with two resounding victories, first against Santiago Wanderers at Elías Figueroa Brander 4-0 and then against Deportes Melipilla 4-2 at Estadio Nicolás Chahuán Nazar. With these results, the Cacique reached the sub-leadership of the tournament, remaining only one point behind Unión La Calera.

The Cacique stretched his triumphs in a row in the tournament to four during his visit to Unión Española, winning 1-0 at the Santa Laura Stadium on the 16th date of the 2021 National Championship.
