The head of the Ministry of Internal Trade, Roberto Feletti, announced this Wednesday an agreement with the main mass consumer companies and supermarket chains to maintain the stable prices of 1,247 mass consumer products – which include those of the Care Prices program – for 90 days, until January 7, 2022.
In that framework, Infobae had access from sources close to the negotiation of the complete list of products that will make up the agreement and that covers the entire spectrum of mass consumption: there are warehouse products, perfumery, cleaning products, fresh and frozen food, among others. The Government asked the companies to report the price they had as of October 1.
There are from staples to a wide variety of alcoholic beverages: there are four brands of fernet, four of aperitifs, six of spirits such as cognac, vodka and rum and gin, five whiskeys and 29 red wines. They also appear from pet food to anti-wrinkle creams or diapers.
This list also includes the products that make up the Care Prices program, so the current values will continue to run until January 7. The complete list is as follows:
In a meeting with the press, Feletti pointed out that The price agreement includes producers, suppliers, supermarket marketing chains, wholesalers and retailers, and implies “rolling back the prices of more than 1,247 mass consumer products to October 1 for 90 days, until January 7 of next year” .
“The goal is to match the government’s revenue policy with a pricing policy. For this, we take as a basis an indicator that measures the impact of an adult’s basic food basket on the average salary of registered workers. That indicator was 9% in 2019, when the Government took office, and today it is at 11%, “said Roberto Feletti during a talk with journalists.
The prices of the products that are part of the agreement will be identified on the shelves, although it is not yet known whether the program will have a name that identifies it or the Care Prices will remain.
Unlike the Careful Prices program, the idea is that the prices agreed upon in this new – broader – list are valid not only in large supermarket chains but also in nearby supermarkets and warehouses. Although it would be a longer-term axis together with the arrival of smaller supplier companies to the large chains.
In this framework, the prices of the products that are part of the agreement will be identified on the shelves, although it is not yet known whether the program will have an identifying name or the Care Prices will be maintained. “Businesses were asked to have a sign and be signposted. Instead of Frozen I prefer to use Stabilized”Said the new Secretary of Commerce.
Feletti clarified that the agreement is a first stage in a stabilization plan and that there will be no written rule, beyond the price lists. However, he clarified that there will be sanctions when there are deviations in the agreed prices. “They are the same sanctions that are already in force. We are going to monitor that it is fulfilled ”, he assured.
