The electrical service was restored after the massive blackout in La Plata: what were the reasons

A power outage affected a large sector of La Plata this noon, as reported by users from different neighborhoods and even from the Center. After 5:00 p.m., the service company reported that “it has been restored to all the users affected by the interruption.”

The interruption occurred around 12:40. Users from Villa Elvira, Tolosa, Los Hornos and Casco Urbano immediately contacted this medium. But they were added from most of the neighborhoods of La Plata, on a day of sweltering heat, in which the thermometer is expected to reach 35 degrees.

Complaints about the lack of electricity came from 116 and 78, 7 and 72, 20 and 64, Parque Castelli, diagonal 80 and 4, 48 between 12 and 13, 7 and 34, 58 between 6 and 7, 1 and 55, 16 and 50, 7 and 45, 13 and 57, 4 and 41 and different points in the La Loma and La Cumbre neighborhoods. They also reported that the cut affected Magdalena and Brandsen.

This medium requested information from the Edelap company so that, amid the concern of users, it provides information regarding what happened and in relation to when the supply will return to homes. Already around 1:15 p.m. in some neighborhoods it was reported that the service was beginning to be restored. But in others the problems still persisted. “Edelap informs that the electrical service has been restored to all the users affected by the interruption this afternoon

The failure occurred in a High Voltage line, detected by the company’s Operations Center. The restitution of the service was done through a backup line, normalizing the provision in less than an hour.

Work continues to determine the causes of the failure.”
