The final of the 2022 South American Cup, which will start the round of 16 next week, will finally be played on October 1 at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium, in Córdoba, and not at the Mané Garrincha, in Brasilia, since that weekend there will be general elections in Brazil.
As reported by the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), the change was requested by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), considering that the general elections in that country will be held on October 2.
It is worth mentioning that the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium, located in the province of Córdoba, with a capacity for 57 thousand people, had already hosted the final of the 2020 South American Cup, which was played in January 2021, between Defense and Justice and Lanús. On that occasion, the cast of Florencio Varela was proclaimed champion by winning 3-0.
For its part, the final of the Copa Libertadores 2022 will be played on Saturday, October 29 at the Monumental Isidro Romero Carbo stadium, in the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil.
