The last month of the campaign in Chile is muddied: Sichel is singled out for alleged illegal financing

The official candidate for the presidency of Chile, Sebastián Sichel, added a new scandal that threatens to make him fall even more in the polls. A journalistic investigation revealed that his first candidacy for deputy, in 2009, would have been partially financed with contributions from fishing companies.

Most of these funds, according to the press of Chile, appeared as tickets of fees for alleged services. Among the people who issued these documents is Sichel’s campaign coordinator, Cristóbal Acevedo, who was also at the time accompanying the current candidate for the presidency of the trans-Andean country.
