Traveling to Mordor is deadly. But if Frodo was dead, could Sam have destroyed the Ring? The Hobbit shows some skill in sneaking among the Orcs. Getting to Mount Destiny nothing is impossible. At the volcano, he carried Fordon on his back. Going forward alone does not seem a problem even if Gollum represents an obstacle. Assuming Sam wins the fight, it remains to be seen if he would throw down the Ring.

Fordon and Isildur could not bring themselves to destroy the Ring, as corruption took hold of them. But Sam only wears it for a short time and given his great kindness of soul, one can imagine him removing the Ring successfully. However, JRR Tolkien shows the extent of this artifact’s power in his novels. What to review the chances of success.

Sam only wears the Ring for a short time in Mount Doom, but his power increases as he heads towards his volcano. The author even specifies that when the Hobbit has not even arrived at the mountain yet, he already feels the corruption is too much for him. Let the ring tempt him by controlling his will.

A heavy burden to bear

Aside from Frodo, Sam seems the Fellowship’s best candidate to wear the Ring. Given the artifact’s rapid impact on the Hobbit’s mind, it is hard to imagine him succeeding in destroying it. But what the character experiences while going to Mount Doom while carrying Frodo shows the burden that this object represents. Frodo was brave enough to wear it for so long.
