The Paraguayan Consulate in La Plata has new authorities. This Friday he took over Pedro Farias Perezwho replaces his predecessor Antonio Aranda. The replacement was carried out in a ceremony in which the mayor participated. Julius Garro.
Farías Pérez thanked the welcome given to him in the city and after the act there was a show of Paraguayan dances, performed by children from the local community with family origins in a neighboring country.
As is known, the Paraguayan community is one of the largest in the city. It is estimated that there are more than 50 thousand people, who every May 15 celebrate the Independence Day of the Republic of Paraguay and also the Paraguayan Mother’s Day in the capital of Buenos Aires.
“I want to congratulate Doctor Pedro Farías Pérez, who today assumes the enormous responsibility of representing the Paraguayan brothers. We know how important the community is for La Plata, which contributes a lot to the growth of the provincial capital, not only in the economic matrix but also in the cultural one”, commented Garro.
During the act, in which the new Consul took his formal oath, representatives of the municipal Cabinet, Buenos Aires legislators, councilors and the Charge of Business and International Affairs of Paraguay were present, as well as the Minister Juan Ramon Cano Montaniaon behalf of the embassy of Paraguay, along with other consular attaches from the same country.
