The police: 15-year-old in Borås was accidentally hit – was not the target

It was just after 7 pm that the shooting took place at a pizzeria on Hässleholmen. Two people, a 25-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, were injured and are currently being treated in hospital.

The teenage boy’s injuries are said to be minor and he is likely to have been hit accidentally and was not the shooter’s target.

– It’s about how the injury looks, a bullet that enters the body does so in a special way and because of that, one suspects that it is a ricochet, says Christer Fuxborg.

The other man, a 25-year-old man, is also being treated in hospital and the situation is said to be serious.

“Pure luck that no more people were shot”

On Wednesday night, the police carried out a crime scene investigation and secured traces in the form of several shell casings. Considering the number of shell casings, the police believe that it was pure luck that more people were not shot at the time.

– It is reckless that you shoot so many shots at one person, you don’t care about innocent people who are in an area in broad daylight or just passing by, says Christer Fuxborg.

Connects to gang environment

The police are now working on analyzing interrogations and surveillance footage. They also carry out door knocking and will have an increased presence in the area.

– There is an ongoing hunt for a suspect. A person was brought in for questioning last night, but the person has now been released and written off from the case at the moment, says Christer Fuxborg.

The police are currently unsure whether any of the injured were the target of the shooting, but believe that the shooting is connected to the gang environment at Hässleholmen. According to the municipal police Nadim Ghazale, the two men must have peripheral connections to the criminal networks in Borås.
