The siblings have lived together with the royal family for two years.
This summer, the royal family spent a lot of time with Patrick Sommerlath, 51, during the holiday on Öland.
Patrick is Silvia’s late brother Walther Sommerlath’s son and thus cousin to Victoria, Carl Philip and Madeleine.
The cousins have always had an extremely close relationship, which was more like a sibling relationship, because Patrick moved in with the royal family at Drottningholm Palace as early as 15 years old, when his parents divorced.
Patrick Sommerlath lives at Drottningholm – with the king and Silvia
In 2018, Patrick and then-wife Maline Sommerlath decided to separate, which came as a shock to many.
The former couple have twin daughters Chloé and Anaïs, 14, together, and Patrick already has a son Léopold, 20.
In 2020, Patrick decided to move back to Drottningholm together with his three children – and thus move in with the king and Silvia.
More specifically, the Sommerlath family lives in the Lower Sea Wing, which is a detached 18th-century house, located only fifty meters from the large castle.
The Sommerlath family’s lovely summer with the royal family
During the summer, as I said, we saw how the Sommerlath family and the royal family came up with lots of fun activities together on Öland!
Among other things, we saw them enjoy several concerts from the royal lodge at Borgholm’s castle ruins.
Also in the summer of 2021, Patrick and the family were on location on Öland and spent a lot of time with their royal relatives.
