Actually, they sang against each other, but this duet caused the competition to fall into oblivion for a moment…
The battles at “The Voice of Germany” are in full swing – seven talents have already qualified for the sing-offs. The third round started on Friday evening.
And while one performance impressed with a surprise, another provided a highly emotional moment.
Anti-war song gives you goosebumps
Luca Wefes (22) and Luka Maksim Klais (22) received a very special assignment from Mark Forster for their performance that evening. The coach had decided to set an example with an anti-war song: “Tell me where the flowers are” by Marlene Dietrich († 90).
The events in Ukraine do not leave him indifferent either. Forster: “When will the world understand that it’s useless? That no one wins in wars, ever.”
He therefore demanded a lot of heart and soul from his two candidates: “Both of them have to make sure that they are going to bring a very important moment to the stage here. That is a big challenge.”
In this case, the two (almost) namesakes did not see each other as opponents. Luca emphasized: “This is not a battle. That’s a duet we’re singing here.”
A duet that caused standing ovations and tears in the audience. Coach Stefanie Kloß (37) also glistened suspiciously in the eyes: “You have just created an incredibly strong moment here. That was really great.”
mark had to make a decision again, but made a clear announcement shortly beforehand: “There is the possibility of a ‘steal deal’. I think it’s definitely the right thing to do here so none of them go home.”
He narrowly decided to take Luca Wefes with him – but shortly afterwards Rea Garvey hit his “Steal Deal” buzzer: “They both delivered these emotions so real and pure. You have to honor that!”
Both Luca and Luka can look forward to the next round.
Sammy and Anny amaze with a lifting figure
Mark Forster (39) chose the title song of the cult classic “Dirty Dancing” for his protégés Samuel “Sammy” Franklin (43) and Anny Ogrezeanu (21).
In “Time of my Life” the two not only convinced with outstanding voices – they also put the famous lifting figure of the cinema hit on the floor.
Rea Garvey (49) could hardly believe his eyes and was amazed in English: “What the f*** happened?”
Moderator Melissa Khalaj (33) was convinced: “It just sounded like the original!” Rea corrected her: “Better. Much better. What did you think when he told you to do the lifting figure?”
A challenge that Anny was obviously happy to take on: “So what? We’re crazy enough to do it.”
Rea was far from finished with his praise and continued to rave: “I actually thought it was brilliant. The lifting figure: 1A with asterisks. Honestly.”
Meanwhile, Mark Forster had to deal with the agony of choice – after all, he was only allowed to take one of the two candidates with him: “You complemented each other so well and got along so well. You are both just forces of nature.”
With a heavy heart he decided on Anny and Sammy had to leave “The Voice”. But not without leaving a lasting impression!
