The wilaya of Blida, 50 kilometers from Algiers, was shaken today by an earthquake. The announcement was made this Wednesday, November 24, 2021, by the Center for Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics (CRAAG).
According to CRAAG, it is a earthquake of magnitude 3.5 degrees on the open Richter scale. It was recorded this Wednesday evening around 21:56.
“The epicenter of the earthquake was located 1.2 kilometers northeast of the town of Chrea in the wilaya of Blida,” CRAAG said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.
According to local sources, the earthquake recorded today did not cause any human or material damage, pending the assessment of the civil protection services.
The tremors felt in Algiers
The earthquake on Wednesday was felt by the wilayas bordering Blida. Indeed, on social networks, Internet users from the Central region of Algeria quickly went to Facebook to share their feelings.
In addition to the wilaya of Blida, the earthquake was felt in the capital as well as in Tipaza. It has even been felt in certain communes of Médéa.
