They denounce that the Police would be prohibiting the rescue of bodies from the Cauca River

Faced with the increase in anxiety generated by the appearance, during the last month and a half, of at least eleven lifeless bodies on the banks of the Cauca River, in its passage through the departments of Risaralda and Caldas, Caracol Radio spoke with one of the rescuers in the area, who denounced that some members of the National Police, apparently, have intimidated them and have prohibited them from reporting more bodies that they see in similar conditions and that, on the contrary, they push them and let the current of that tributary carry them along; according to them, because this situation is generating panic in the region.

The complainant, whose identity will be protected by this radio house, assured that several of the bodies found in the jurisdiction of the municipalities of Marsella, Belalcázar and Chinchiná They have been found without heads and arms, so it is presumed that those responsible for these crimes want to prevent the victims from being identified.

“It is happening that some fishermen are being forbidden to collect the corpses from the river because that is damaging the statistics. The police are the ones doing that“, he recounted.

Meanwhile, social leaders in the region assure that this issue should be investigated by the control bodies because this would represent that the authorities, presumably, they want to hide the violence that is evident in the Eje Cafetero and Valle del Cauca.
