Juarez City.- The Civil Protection Directorate (PC) of the Municipality called on the general population to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during the current hot season. Among the effects that a person can feel are sunstroke, dehydration, diarrhea and skin burns, so it is important that citizens avoid spending a long time without protection.

Roberto Briones, director of PC, said that it is important for the population to take preventive measures in the event of heat waves, a period of excessive temperature that lasts for several consecutive days.

He explained that a heat wave has the characteristic that it lasts at least three days and its maximum temperature point arrives after noon; In the case of Chihuahua, as it is a desert area, the risk of exposure is medium to very high.

“The months with the highest temperatures are from May to August and in some regions a historical temperature maximum of 57 degrees Celsius (134 Fahrenheit) has been reached,” Briones said.

Speaking about the effects of the heat wave among the population, he said that when a person is exposed for several hours they can suffer from sunstroke, fainting, heat stroke, dehydration, acute diarrhea and skin burns.

Symptoms of heat stroke, which can be fatal, he warned, are headache, confusion, nausea, excessive sweating, dry and hot skin, moderate pulse, dizziness and loss of consciousness.

The people who are most at risk of suffering from heat stroke are those under 5 years of age and older adults, workers exposed to public roads, people with chronic diseases and pets, who can also suffer severe damage if they are not protected. of sun exposure.
