While the Minister of Health must describe the new vaccine measures during the day, the medical appointment booking site Doctolib has already modified its appointment booking policy to anticipate.
While the government is worried about the effects of the fifth wave of Covid-19, the vaccination campaign is strengthening with the upcoming generalization of the third dose from the age of 18. If this policy has not yet been officially approved by the government, the Doctolib site, a major player in making medical appointments, is already proposing it, anticipating a probable announcement of this enlargement this Thursday noon, during of the press conference of the Minister of Health Olivier Véran.
Avoid traffic jams when making an appointment
In fact, when an appointment is made, people over 18 are indicated as eligible, starting November 27. The vaccination figures are accelerating, especially as the time between the second and third dose must be officially shortened by one month.
Doctolib wanted to anticipate the “traffic jams” created by the very strong demand for vaccines, a scenario already seen during the generalization of the health pass this summer.
Olivier Véran’s announcements are expected at 12:30 p.m. today. They concern this third dose and the time between it and the second, reduced from six to five months. The Minister of Health should also specify a possible strengthening of measures concerning the health pass, PCR tests or even wearing a mask.
Since opening the third dose to people over the age of 65, the site has recorded new record numbers, with several hundred thousand appointments made per day. The record was broken on Wednesday, with nearly 360,000 appointments recorded on the platform.
During the generalization of the health pass, announced this summer, Doctolib also broke attendance records. Since the start of the vaccination campaign, 70.9 million appointments have been made on Doctolib.
