Many times we have witnessed or it has happened to us, that when we visit a commercial establishment and want to acquire certain items, when paying they cost much more than their real price is supposed to be.
However, many companies use these techniques to deceive customers, but in several cases it is also a mistake, but it is vitally important that you keep in mind that establishments must respect the prices they have set, even if these are the wrong ones.
For this reason, the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) is very attentive to citizen complaints and has paid special attention to develop a mechanism to defend consumer rights.
How does PROFECO act?
The Law issued by the Attorney General’s Office establishes that “every provider is obliged to inform and respect the prices, rates, guarantees, quantities, qualities, measures, interests, charges, terms, deadlines, dates, modalities, reservations and other conditions in accordance with the which would have been offered, forced or agreed with the consumer delivery of the good or provision of the service, and under no circumstances these goods or services will be denied to any person”.
In another paragraph of the document, it is indicated that the supplier is obliged to display in a conspicuous and visible manner the total amount to be paid for the goods, products or services offered to the consumer.
