Three new Finns break their KHL contracts – qualified back current for games in the Finnish league

Finnish player flight from the Russian ice hockey league KHL continues.

Russian Sports Express announces that the KHL team Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg has broken contracts with the Finnish players Juha Metsola, Jyrki Jokipakka and Miro Aaltonen. All players had submitted a request to break the agreements.

All three leave behind several years of games in the Russian league and are now looking for new challenges. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has led a large number of Finns who played in the KHL to decide to break their current contracts.

Aaltonen was part of the Lions team that won Olympic gold in Beijing in February.

Earlier today reported Iltalehti that Jokipakka – with several NHL seasons and five years in the KHL on the merit list – is up for a comeback to the FM league, while Aaltonen and Metsola are rumored to try their luck in the Swiss league.
