Traffic disruption: Berlin-Leipzig railway line: diversions and cancellations

Berlin.
Modernization work is pending on the Leipzig-Berlin railway line. Travelers must expect an extended journey time and train cancellations.

Train travelers between Berlin and Leipzig will have to be prepared for diversions and cancellations in the coming days. From this Monday until May 19, the journeys of individual long-distance trains will take about 45 minutes longer than the Deutsche Bahn announced.

For some trips, the stop in Lutherstadt Wittenberg is therefore omitted. On the regional train line RE3 between Lutherstadt Wittenberg and Stralsund/Schwedt, on certain days between Ludwigsfelde and Lutherstadt Wittenberg, individual journeys are canceled in the late evening on individual sections. The trains are said to be replaced with buses.

According to Bahn, the reason for the delays and cancellations is modernization work on the Leipzig-Berlin route. The route will be equipped with the European train control system ETCS. From June 23rd to June 6th there should be further restrictions. (dpa)
