A shocking fire broke out this Thursday in a building in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Recoleta. The fire started on the seventh floor and spread to the eighth of the tower located in Ecuador at 1000.
The director of SAME, Alberto Crescenti, confirmed that there are 5 deaths from the fire: three children and two women. Meanwhile, another 18 people were transferred to different Buenos Aires hospitals.
An approximately 9-year-old girl was treated by SAME personnel, supplying her with oxygen, because she had inhaled smoke, while another woman was lowered by firefighters with a rigid board and a cervical collar down the internal stairs.
Crescenti also revealed that there are several floors taken, he explained that there are “four or five minors in serious condition” who were referred to the Children’s Hospital and a pregnant woman, also in serious condition, transferred to the Ramos Mejía Hospital. “We are waiting for news in the hospitals, they are resuscitating them, they are in cardiorespiratory arrest,” she indicated.

The firefighters evacuated neighbors who could not leave their homes with a crane and received assistance in the ambulances located around the building, where they were supplied with oxygen, since they had inhaled smoke, and were then referred to hospitals in the area.
Pablo Giardina, deputy commander of the City Fire Department, confirmed at 8:10 that the fire was controlled and reported that the fatal victims had been rescued alive, although they were in serious condition. They were assisted by SAME doctors, but died when transferred to health centers.
