Trick to run faster in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet for Nintendo Switch

Last week we saw the long-awaited launch of Pokemon Violet and Pokemon Scarlet for Nintendo Switch, but unfortunately once again GameFreak it delivered us a game that was unpolished and full of annoying bugs. Still, some of these bugs can be useful, such as the one that allows us to run twice as fast using two controls.

Since the release of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet players have been sharing clips of some of the most notorious bugs and here we can find some examples. However, yesterday a Reddit user discovered a bug that we can take advantage of, as it allows us to run twice as fast using two controllers.

Since Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are single-player games, the only way to play with two controllers is with handheld mode, since it is possible to use a wireless controller while leaving the Joy-con connected to the Nintendo Switch. Usually when you’re using a wireless controller and you press a button on the controllers attached to the Switch (or vice versa), the game asks you which one to use, but in Pokémon Violet & Scarlet this isn’t the case.

The user u/hamsterhead64 discovered that it is possible to use both controllers at the same time and doing so can multiply the effects on screen. For example, if you move the left stick of both controllers forward, your character will run twice as fast. However, the stick needs to be slightly tilted for it to work and it is not possible to do this by moving straight forward.

In the comments on the Reddit post there are some players who say they have tried to recreate this bug, but while some say they are successful, others say they find it too difficult to get the angle right. In any case, as long as GameFreak does not fix this bug, players will be able to take advantage of it, especially those who seek to speedrun Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet on Nintendo Switch.
