Tropical nights and desert days: Brandenburg’s government has a heat protection strategy developed

Brandenburg is one of the hottest regions in Germany. With climate change, this development is inexorably intensifying – including negative consequences such as more deaths from the heat. Brandenburg’s Health Minister Ursula Nonnemacher and Environment Minister Axel Vogel (both Green) therefore presented a 260-page expert report with heat protection recommendations to journalists and a specialist audience on Tuesday, on the basis of which the future “heat action plan” for the state is to be developed. Brandenburg is thus a “pioneer in Germany”, said Nonnemacher. Heat protection, according to the central message, “is the order of the day”.
