The FundPlata Foundation made its usual report on the fulfillment of the national program “Prices Care” in the city of La Plata, which showed a rise of 2 percentage points (from 65.2% to 67.4%) compared to the previous month. The striking fact is that again sugar and butter are the products of the food sector, whose reference value is not found in more than 50% of the shops surveyed.

In the survey carried out during the last week of July 2022, it stands out: “According to the analysis by type of market, the relationship between trade size and the degree of compliance and the hypermarket continues to be where the best performance is presented in compliance levels compared to the rest”.
About the study, the graduate Julia Galizzi, an economist and member of the Foundation’s economic team, considered that “regarding the different products surveyed, sugar and butter continue to be the food products with the highest degree of non-compliance. The products were selected with these consumption criteria: usual, frequent, necessary and habitual. Due to the magnitude predicted by “Prices Care” for the AMBA region (1,353 products), FundPlata’s work selected 20 products. Likewise, the businesses surveyed were 16 (11 supermarkets, 3 hypermarkets and 2 neighborhood markets) geographically located in 12 neighborhoods of the municipality of La Plata.
The level of compliance with the national program in general terms was found in 67.4% of the surveyed businesses. “This percentage of compliance is slightly above the work carried out the previous month of this year, where the program, according to our data collected at that time, had an effectiveness of 65.2%”, specialists indicated in the report. In turn, they noted that the highest degree of compliance occurred in hypermarkets (78.3%).
