Ukraine: start of annexation referendums in areas controlled by pro-Russians

Announced by Vladimir Putin a few days ago, the annexation referendums began this Friday morning. The populations of the occupied regions of Ukraine are called upon to decide on the question of a possible attachment to Russia.

DRussian annexation “referendums” began on Friday in areas of Ukraine wholly or partly controlled by Moscow, Russian news agencies reported, polls described as “sham” by kyiv and the West.


These votes, which began at 7:00 a.m. Belgian time, must be held until September 27 in the pro-Russian separatist regions of Donetsk and Lugansk (east), and in areas under Russian occupation in the regions of Kherson and Zaporijjia (south), in the midst of Moscow’s military offensive against Ukraine.
