Diego Maradona will be honored this Friday in Qatar for the second anniversary of his death, which this year coincides with the 22nd edition of the World Cup.
Although Qatar, the 10th is a reason for constant memory for Argentines, in the streets and stadiums -this Friday its devotees will gather in Doha with a banner-, Conmebol will organize the meeting “Under the star of 10”, a tour of his greatest achievements in football.
The guests different world champions with Argentina: Ubaldo Fillol, Alberto Tarantini, Ricardo Villa, Daniel Bertoni, Omar Larrosa and Mario Kempes (1978); Nery Pumpido, Oscar Ruggeri, Jorge Burruchaga, Claudio Borghi, Ricardo Giusti, Sergio Batista, Jorge Valdano, Carlos Tapia and Héctor Enrique (1986).

A space dedicated only to our D10S was inaugurated during this World Cup: the Maradona Fan Fest, an experience for fans of the idol and the Argentine national team to relive their career. The space will work until the day of the final, on Sunday, December 18, it is located in the private hangar of Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the Doha International Airport.
There rests the Tango D10S plane, plotted with the image of Diego, the museum is decorated with an unprecedented collection of original shirts used by the former captain of the Argentine national team.
They can be appreciated from a garment from his time as a member of the “Cebollitas” to the training suit that he used as DT of Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, his last experience in soccer. The shirts on display belong to two Neapolitan fans, Pierluigi Salemme and Antonio Luise, who donated more than 450 of the star’s items.
The collection, however, is not exclusively Neapolitan, since among the jewels of the Argentine national team there is one from the 1979 Japan Youth World Cup with the number painted on the back and the blue shirt that Diego wore in the match against Yugoslavia in Italy 1990.

Maradona made his debut in Spain ’82, shone with his coronation in Mexico ’86, suffered injuries in Italy ’90 and paid dearly in the United States ’94. Since then, his presence at the World Cups was a fixture and in South Africa 2010 he did it as the coach of the National Team.
