Vaccinated would have discounts at universities, passport and military book

With the purpose of encourage vaccination against COVID-19 in the country, the Congress of the Republic received a bill that proposes creating economic incentives for the people who have already been immunized. Sayings discounts would be cumulative with the benefits granted, for example, to those who participate in the 2022 elections.

Among these benefits, as proposed by the project, there would be discounts for the issuance of the passport, the initial procedure or the duplicate of the military book, the duplicate of the citizenship card and the license plates registration for undergraduate and graduate on public institutions of higher education.

“In recent weeks, in Colombia infections have increased. That is why these are sought 10% benefits in the cost of the ID, the military book, the passport, and for the university studies in Public Universities ”, specified the author of the initiative, Senator Miguel Barreto.

According to what was said by the conservative parliamentarian, “This is a project that is not coercive, of course; what you intend is to encourage, motivate, all Colombians to be vaccinated in an agile way, and it is possible to reach herd immunity ”.

Given the importance of the initiative, Barreto asked President Iván Duque that the dice urgency message to the initiative, to expedite its process in Congress. “We cannot wait for another peak of the pandemic. That is why we present this bill, to avoid more deaths and to be able to continue working on economic reactivation and growth of the country ”, he concluded.

Indeed, so that the project to become a reality must pass four debates between Senate of the Republic and the House of Representatives. By stocking those four discussions, the initiative would pass to presidential sanction and would enter into force.
