INFO BFMTV. While she had left the party in June 2019, Valérie Pécresse will take back her card from the Republicans, on the occasion of the Congress to decide on the candidate for the next presidential election.
Valérie Pécresse will take back her card from the Republicans. According to our information, the president of the Île-de-France region will once again join the movement she left in 2019.
Launched in the presidential race, Valérie Pécresse will submit to the vote of the congress of the Les Républicains movement, with five other candidates: Xavier Bertrand, Michel Barnier, Philippe Juvin, Denis Payre and Éric Ciotti.
From Dijon, this Thursday, she assures us that “it is the logical consequence of the fact that I have accepted from the start to play collectively. It is a question of consistency”.
The elected Ile-de-France had left the movement in 2019, after the electoral setback of the European elections, deeming it impossible to rebuild her political family from within the party. Since then, she has been at the head of her movement, “Free!”.
“Our goal is to beat Macron”
Today, it asks its members “who share like me the values of the right”, “to join LR to build together the party of reconquest and alternation”. “Our goal is to beat Emmanuel Macron together,” insists Valérie Pécresse.
To participate in the congress, the candidate for the Elysée is not required to be a member of the movement, up to date with the contribution. But in this way, she herself will be able to take part in the vote on December 4.
For his part, Xavier Bertrand, who had also left the movement, announced not to take back his card, even if he undertakes to support the candidate supported by the LR congress.
