Matthieu and Sandrine ran the Infinity Trail on Île d’Aix, the most demanding race of their life, and Tout le sport’s camera was with them.
On the one hand, Matthieu, ultra-trail specialist, who represented France at the world championships. On the other, Sandrine, first participation in a race of its kind, she who had never gone beyond the marathon. They both met on Friday October 8 on the Ile d’Aix for the Infinity trail. The principle: 6.7-kilometer loops to be completed in less than an hour, with a departure every hour, and eliminations as and when withdrawals are made, until there is only one left. ‘a. “I like to hurt myself, I’m a fool”, laughs Matthieu.
They are 128 at the start, to chain the laps, under the setting sun, in the dark night, in the early morning. Sandrine stops after 8 hours, and almost 54 kilometers. For his 5th participation, Matthieu was almost the last man standing, but he gave up after 227 kilometers. An All Sport team was with this duo.
