It’s Wednesday and time for our second Quick Talk event. In this format, we look at a wide variety of questions related to video games. These questions are drawn at random and end up in the recording at random. The editors then have to come up with something spontaneously, for example, “Which gaming track will leave a catchy tune?”, “Which game could we play over and over again?” or “What remake would we like to have, even though we know it will never come?” fits.

In the second episode, Martin, Alex, Ana and the show’s namesake Melanie take on this challenge. A colorful mixture of three topics awaits us today as well. This time, however, we don’t have to switch areas, but rather deal with the content of video games themselves.

Which game could you play again and again?

Games like Ring of Pain relax us? Or under what aspects do we keep playing video games, even if our pile of shame keeps growing?

We noticed very quickly that games can also offer a space to withdraw and lean back. In management games that follow fixed rules, in which one likes to get lost in order to switch off, or in social farming games like Animal Crossing and the Atelier series, this is somehow clear. But are those the only reasons to keep launching a game? Melanie tells us that League of Legends runs through her life because it not only encourages you to keep getting better, but also has a social component that always leads back into the game.

Confession Time: I Always Loved This Awkward Video Game!

Did some faces really turn red or how does Martin deal with his addiction to Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius? We’ve found that many fantasy or anime titles don’t have to be embarrassing, because video games have long since become mainstream. And not only video games — pen & paper, board games and LARP are no longer an unusual hobby. Maybe there are only “mainstream” games left, like Fortnite, for which one is rather ashamed. But, is this really the truth? Our actual confession is at this point: We don’t find anything embarrassing anymore!

What game deserves a remake that will probably never come?

I’d love to see Silver with current graphics, but that probably never will.

The question of a remake is probably one in which we are your opinion most interested, because the answers are very individual. In the video you hear some titles that may never get a reissue and that’s a bit sad. The development studio for my favorite “Silver” no longer exists, for other games it would simply fail due to the implementation – as Alex explains with the example of Wing Commander III and “The Thing”. There can be many reasons why remakes wouldn’t work anymore, and with every new reason that comes up, there’s also a touch of sadness. Because we always associate a positive gaming experience with a title that we would like to bring back to the current generation of consoles in the best possible way.

Do you sometimes come up with questions while gambling that you would like to discuss in a group? Leave them in the comments and they’ll be on our list 🙂
