Western Digital is expanding its WD_Black brand with two SSDs for gamers. Specifically, these are the WD_Black SN850X NVMe and the WD_Black P40 Game Drive SSD. The former model is an internal drive with PCIe Gen4. Then reading speeds of up to 7,300 MB/s are possible.
The new Game Mode 2.0 is also available for download in the WD_Black dashboard (only for Windows). More features to boost PC performance are now available there. The SSD is also available with an optional heat sink (1 TB or 2 TB). The integrated RGB lighting is intended to set visual accents.
The WD_Black P40 Game Drive SSD model is again an external model that is connected via USB 3.2 Gen2 x2. There is customizable RGB lighting here too. Read speeds are up to 2,000 MB/s.
The WD_Black SN850X NVMe SSD will be available from summer 2022 in capacities of 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB in the online shop, from specialist retailers and from selected sales partners in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The WD_Black P40 Game Drive SSD will be available from summer 2022 in capacities of 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB in the online shop, in specialist shops and at selected sales partners in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The manufacturer apparently wants to submit prices soon after the launch.
