Werder makes a healthy profit

SV Werder Bremen is back on track financially. As reported by ‘Sport Bild’, a profit of between five and six million euros was generated in the 2021/22 financial year. The main reasons for this are the direct promotion back to the Bundesliga and skilful transfers from sports director Frank Baumann. Of the seven newcomers, six came to the Weser free of charge. Four million euros were only spent on the Danish midfielder Jens Stage. Sales of top players Josh Sargent and Milot Rashica brought the club important money even in the relegation year.

The income from ticket sales also contributes to the fact that Werder is now in a better financial position. Head coach Ole Werner plays attractive and successful football, which the fans also want to admire in the stadium. 27,000 supporters were able to secure a season ticket, and a total of 11,000 are on the waiting list. No wonder given the current standings of Bremen (tenth place in the league).
