The company Weta, a New Zealand specialist in special effects to which we owe in particular all the visual aspect of The Lord of the Rings, announces via an online offer to recruit a producer for its next project. Without revealing it, however, a “major global franchise” is mentioned. Obviously, only one of them comes out on top …
A franchise to rule them all
If you can’t see, follow the finger!
News is busy for the company Weta: while the Digital branch has just been acquired by Unity for the modest sum of a billion dollars, it is a job offer that catches the attention of players. Inviting a future producer to join the Wellington-based teams, the description evokes a “major global franchise very close to our hearts”. It is then difficult not to think of a future project concerning The Lord of the Rings. The film trilogy of the 2000s being one of the reasons for the creation of the studio.
Planned for consoles and PC, the project is only in its infancy since only this offer is available online. On Facebook, Weta said of the new game that it is based on an “incredibly rich and inspiring license that will fill fans and gamers around the world with pleasure.” Weta’s gaming division was inaugurated in 2012 and has since worked mainly on virtual reality projects. At this time, there is no confirmation that this is a project related to The Lord of the Rings. The franchise will officially return with The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, still slated for 2022. We’ll be sure to catch up on the news when we know more.
