The shocking news of Batgirl’s cancellation, despite the fact that the film was now completed and had required a budget of 90 million dollars, was received very critically by DC fans who began to be worried about the other projects as well. Among these Peacemaker, a TV series with John Cena in the role of the vigilante, which fortunately will have a rosy future: director James Gunn has thought about reassuring the fans.
James Gunn reassures fans about Peacemaker’s future
Apparently the new conglomerate Warner Bros. Discovery would like to cut several DC-related content for HBO Max and focus exclusively on the big screen, but Peacemaker is currently safe and the second season will be made. Gunn responded on Twitter with a very telling message: “Yes, guys, stay calm”. The second season was announced after the great success of the first, which quickly became one of the most viewed content on the platform. Gunn also anticipated many more cameos from the DCEU.
Peacemaker is Christopher Smith’s alter ego, a man who believes in peace at any cost and who cares how many people he will have to kill in order to achieve this. The character was created in 1966 by Joe Gill And Pat Boyette for Charlton Comics, only to enter the DC universe after DC Comics’ takeover of the publishing house.
Yes, guys, calm down.

The show’s first season, consisting of 8 episodes, was set after the episodes of The Suicide Squadserving at the same time as a sequel and spinoff to the film released in 2021. John Cena’s interpretation was unanimously received very positively: the former WWE Champion would therefore seem to have found the career role.
In addition to Peacemaker, James Gunn is working on other DC projects for HBO Max, but no further details are currently known. After the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3set for 2023, the director will devote himself exclusively to the television scene. In the meantime, we are waiting to understand if and when Peacemaker will also be released in Italy (HBO Max not being available).
