THE Whatsapp is the most used instant messaging application worldwide. To maintain its popularity, the platform has invested in adding new features for its users. One of the most anticipated so far were the message reactions, a feature that was already present in Messenger and Facebook, social networks in the Meta universe. In this article, we’ll show you how you can use the new message reactions.
Update to the latest version
First of all, it is worth remembering that the function is only available in the latest version of the application. So, if you still don’t see the quick reaction emojis within the WhatsApp app, make sure you’re using the latest version of the app. To do this, you can simply enter your mobile app store — Play Store on Android and App Store on iOS — and check that the “To update” is enabled.
If only the option “Open“, then you already have the latest version of the messenger and you can continue with the step-by-step that we will show you below.
How to use message reactions on WhatsApp
Currently, message reactions have six different emojis that can be used in messages. Are they:
According to the app development team, more emoji options should be added in the future, possibly with customization options for each user. That is, each one will be able to create their favorite reactions.
As in other social networks, such as Telegram, and in Facebook Messenger itself, these emojis appear at the bottom of the selected message for reaction. It is worth remembering, however, that For the feature to work the way you want, both phones need to be up to date. This means that both whoever sends and who receives the reaction must have the latest version of WhatsApp installed, whether Android or iOS, as we showed in the previous topic.
On the cellphone
1. Open a group or personal chat, then select a message. To select, hold your finger under the desired message bubble;
two. Soon after, a board with the six reaction emojis will open. Select the desired option by touching the screen;
3. The reaction emoji will appear just below the message.
Ready, your contact will receive your reaction to that message! If you change your mind and want to withdraw the reaction, just press on the message again. If you want to change the reaction, just redo the step by step above.
And on WhatsApp Web?
For now, WhatsApp message reactions can only be used in the mobile version of the messenger. The good news is that Meta, the company responsible for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, is already carrying out some tests to implement the novelty on WhatsApp Web. We just have to wait!
