The actor who played Ilyn Payne in the Game of Thrones series, Wilko Johnson, has died at the age of 75, it was reported in a statement.
Johnson died at his home on November 21, confirmed the announcement published on the guitarist’s social networks.
“This is the announcement we never meant to make, and we do so with a heavy heart: Wilko Johnson has died,” the statement read.
The family asked that their privacy be respected during their mourning. “Thank you for respecting the family’s privacy at this sad time.”
So far the cause of death of the British actor has not been revealed, however, Daily Mail UK reported that Johnson was battling pancreatic cancer.
Wilko Johnson appeared in some chapters of the Game of Thrones series, where he played the executioner Ilyn Payne, who was in charge of executing Ned Stark, the patriarch of House Stark, in the first season.
In addition to his participation in the series, Wilko Johnson dedicated himself to music by being part of the bands Ian Drury and the Blockheads, Dr. Feelgood and The Who as a guitarist.
