Originally, the rocket should have lifted off on Tuesday. The weather conditions made it necessary to postpone the start. Today at 3:30 p.m. CEST should it then be so far. Then it will be William Shatner, known for his role as Captain James T. Kirk in the space series “Starship Enterprise”, in a space capsule for Jeff Bezos’ space company Blue Origin go on a ten-minute excursion into space. With the flight, Shatner would become the oldest person ever to travel to space.

Together with Shatner, the former NASA engineer Chris Boshuizen, the entrepreneur Glen de Vries and the deputy head of Blue Origin, Audrey Powers, fly with you.

The capsule with the 4 hobby astronauts on board should be about 100 Kilometer soar above the earth before being slowed down by large parachutes to land again in western Texas.

“Life changing”

In advance, Blue Origin published a photo of the four participants of the all excursion in blue spacesuits (see above) and a video that shows Shatner during the preparations and together with Bezos on Twitter. The adventure is “life-changing” for him, says Shatner. “It seems like there is a lot of interest in the fictional character” Captain Kirk “really going into space – so let’s go with it and enjoy it.”

Blue Origin will launch on its website blueorigin.com and also on YouTube broadcast live. The coverage should be 90 minutes before the start 14.00 MESZ, to start.

The flight on Wednesday is the second manned flight the capsule New Shepard. The first in July, Bezos himself was on board, along with his brother Mark, an 82-year-old former US pilot and an 18-year-old Dutchman.
