On the sidelines of the conflict that has been driving the video game industry for many months, Xbox and PlayStation are each advancing their arguments.
Microsoft recognizes the quality of Sony games
Determined to prove to the world and more particularly to the British Competition and Markets Authority that the takeover of Activision-Blizzard will not harm the health of PlayStation and Nintendo, Xbox spoke at length. Thus, the company affirms loud and clear that the exclusives offered by Sony’s internal studios are of high quality and surpass those deployed by Xbox Game Studios for several years.
While many organizations have expressed their concerns about this famous acquisition, Microsoft has no choice but to try to reassure those who will have to confirm or deny the transaction. Thus, the Call of Duty license is also at the center of the debate, although Xbox believe that making the license exclusive to its ecosystem “won’t have a significant impact” given the quality of their competitors’ games.
Exclusive proprietary games from Sony and Nintendo rank among the best-selling in Europe and worldwide. In addition to having purely exclusive content, Sony also has agreements with third-party publishers that require certain games not to be offered on Xbox consoles.
Although the final decision on the takeover of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft should have already been pronounced, some organizations believe they need more time to examine all the documents in the file. So, will this acquisition soon be validated? We hope to be able to tell you more in the days and weeks to come.
