Microsoft has just confirmed to VGC that Xbox controllers are currently in short supply.
In an article by VGC, Microsoft representatives have confirmed that the Xbox controllers are currently out of stock at many retailers.
No more stock of controllers in several countries
According to player reports on Resetera, multiple resellers in France, the Netherlands, Germany, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Among the British, it even seems that there is no currently no stock at Game, Smyths, Argos, Currys and even in the official Microsoft store. Amazon UK would be one of the last retailers to offer Xbox controllers, but only in Carbon Black color. It seems he remaining stock at select US retailers including Microsoft Store and Best Buy. However, at others such as Amazon and GameStop, there is no more than used controllers.
Microsoft acknowledges the existence of a shortage
Following these reports from players from several countries, VGC conducted an investigation, in in particular asking the question directly to Microsoft. A spokesperson for the American giant said:
We know it can be difficult to find Xbox Wireless Controllers right now due to supply disruptions. We are working as quickly as possible with our manufacturing and retail partners to improve this. Please check availability with your local retailer.
It is therefore confirmed by Microsoft that controllers are currently in short supply. Note that on the Xbox Design Lab site, it is still noted that you can receive your personalized controller within 28 days. However, it is not certain that this is still relevant, the site may simply not have been updated.
