Despite their relative unavailability on the shelves of supermarkets and other specialty stores, the ninth generation consoles recently celebrated their first anniversary. And if the road still seems long, Microsoft is talking today about the improvements to be expected on Xbox.
It is an understatement to say that the manufacturer has not been idle to increase the updates of the Xbox Series X | S and its operating system, but the recent announcements concerning the discontinuation of the backward compatibility program for games from the catalogs Xbox and Xbox 360 or the end of the FPS Boost program, which was also popular with retrogaming enthusiasts, had reason to worry about what happened next.
Very share players
Microsoft intends, however, to carry out other projects, as recently confirmed by project manager Jason Ronald at the microphone ofIron lords podast, just to compensate for the recent bad news. This might be a detail for some, but Microsoft seems to have finally heard the recurring criticism around its somewhat convoluted approach to content sharing:
I have to say that how the Game DVR works, whether it’s capturing or sharing it, is one of the things I wish we had made more progress on this year. It is clearly a priority for us.
We’ve heard feedback from players, and we’ve already offered some improvements to the reliability and quality of gameplay captures, but we know there is still room for improvement. This will be a priority in 2022.
It’s not easy to keep it simple
In this regard, Microsoft is indeed lagging behind, especially in the face of competition which offers much simpler sharing methods when the time comes to post its exploits and / or tragic defeats on so-called social networks. However, we should not take Ronald’s promises at face value, since he already claimed to have heard the message at the beginning of the year.
Come on, hopefully soon you might not have to go through a damn app to easily manage your fame minutes. And if Microsoft could think of the poor journalists who wonder if we will one day be able to transfer its captures to a beast USB key. Yet this is not the sea to drink, is it?
