The Xiaomi Book S 12.4″ was officially announced along with the Mi Band 7, the famous smartband from the Chinese cell phone developer. It is a tablet that follows the same idea of using a keyboard in conjunction with the iPad Pro with Magic KeyBoard and of the Microsoft Surface Go. Its hardware is highlighted by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 processor, which promises to take advantage of the full potential of Windows 11, an operating system where Microsoft has invested considerably to improve the experience on touch devices (with touchscreen), as you can see in our article about the 22H2 version, scheduled for the second half of this year.
For those unfamiliar with the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 chipset, it is a processor similar to the Snapdragon 855 with a power consumption of 7W, a clock of 2.84 GHz and an Adreno 680 GPU. The Xiaomi Book S 12.4″ features an IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, 12.4 inches, maximum brightness of 500 nits and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Going to the tablet’s cameras, we have a 13MP sensor on the back and a 5MP sensor for selfies and video calls.
Xiaomi’s new tablet has a USB-C port for data transfer and charging. In addition, there is support for Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1.
Launch and availability
The Xiaomi Book S 12.4″ tablet was launched on June 21, 2022 and costs €699 in the version without the keyboard. By adding the keyboard, the tablet increases its value to €799.
